Dressage
Congratulations to Lucy Harrison who took Ashleynew Flint to his first dressage competition and won!
Not only that but she managed to gain some 7s. I predict a bright future for this pair..... Qualifying for the Championships
first time out is magnificent.
15-17 August
Equifest
This was the inaugral show for Equifest and going by all the feedback everyone enjoyed it immensely. We chose to
go to this show rather than Ponies UK this year as the range of classes were good and it was being held at the East of England
Show ground.
This was Bobby's first outing since April and considering he had spent the summer running with the mares he was well behaved.
We competed in the Competition M&M class for Large Breed youngstock. Our performance show could have been more fluent but he was rather
on his toes. However, we came 6th which was a very good result for such a young colt and bodes extremely well for the future.
July/August
News Updates
Flint went off to Pony Club Camp with Anna. It was the first time for both of them. They had a ball... Flint's manners were impeccable and he had no issues with the temporary stables.
Anna had a great time and it turns out that Flint is a fantastic games pony. Another talent to add to his resume. On the last day Anna and Flint were on the ride
that won the inter-ride relay. CONGRATULATIONS Anna cannot wait to go back again next year. Flint had a well earned rest when he got home.
Malibu has been introduced to jumping. We were not surprised that he picked it up very easily. He has been jumping small grids [2'] and small courses.
he recently had a trip to the vets to be gelded and will be back in work at the end of August
6 July
Royal Show
It was a wet and windy day at the Royal with a very strong New Forest youngstock class. It wasn't Willow's day to be placed but
she behaved herself and even got used to all the umbrellas!

Blaston Agricultural Show
Ashleynew Flint went to Blaston and entered his first ridden M&M classes. The Open Ridden Large M&M was first with 7 entrants. On one side of the ring was the under 7yr
games and straight across were all the vintage tractors huffing and puffing around the main ring. Some of the M&M entrants were less than relaxed. Flint was a STAR, he stood
like a trooper in the line-up as he had seen it all before. He came a very credible 3rd in his first ridden competition and we were very pleased.
Straight after the Open was the Novice M&M class. So a quick change of bridle back to his snaffle and in the ring again with 8 entrants.
Flint did a much better show and again was 3rd in the class. The vintage tractors had disappeared by this time so some of the other competitors managed
to control their ponies.
Denny Debs from the yard was shown by her owner in the large M&M youngstock class gaining 2nd place. Well done to Anna.
And finally little Mickey the Shetland and his young owner managed to come 3rd in a MASSIVE fancy dress class. Well done
to Mum for the hours spent on the costume and keeping the little jockey entertained as the class was running very very late.

Crowland Show
Not one of our better days. This was my fault as it started with me not being able to find the show ground. So we arrived 1 hour late!
We missed Malibu's first class and arrived just as his second was entering the ring. So the poor lad was whipped of the lorry, tack shoved on him, rider mounted
and shoved in a ring the size of a postage stamp for 12 ex-race horses to go round. Bless him he is only 4yrs old and he coped very well behaving in
his usual impeccable way. he did suffer from not being warmed up so only managed 7th out of 12.
15 June
South Kilworth Riding Club
This was the 5th show in 10 days and exhaustion was starting to set in! Ashleynew Flint went to his first ridden show. Anna, with
her arm in a cast, had to get him ready herself the day before and ride him around at the show. Unfortunately I left my camera at home which is
a pity as he looked truly spectacular. He was well behaved and quiet, going to sleep in the line-up. He entered two novelty classes [always with lots of entrants] and came 5th
in the best turned out.
Welham Rendevous was at the show. Ronnie is now 3 years old and is doing exceptionally well. He came 3rd in a very large youngstock
class before going on to win the coloured class. How nice to see Charlie's babies doing so well.
13-14 June
East of England Show
On the Friday we took Malibu to the show. He was in a strong class of very lively older horses. He came a credible 7th he was the highest placed 4yr old.
He continues to show his placid nature by standing quietly in the line-up while the others around him leaped around the place. In fact the
judge warned some competitors to be careful of the stallion beside him and was surprised and pleasantly surprised to learn Malibu was an
entire and behaving with impeccable manners.
On the Saturday we took Willow [Welham Waterbaby] and Charlie [Blackwell Chalice]. Willow competed in the 3 year old & under class coming a good 3rd.
Charlie excelled himself in a very large Novice Ridden Mixed Large M&M class coming 4th and receiving the award for best New Forest.
8 June
East Anglia Native Pony Show
Willow [Welham Waterbaby] and Charlie [Blackwell Chalice] made the short trip to EANPS at Huntingdon for the second day
of their show. It was a successful outing. Willow got 2nd in the youngstock class and Charlie also got a 2nd in the Stallion class.
In the afternoon Charlie competed in the Junior Mountain and Moorland Working Hunter coming 2nd yet again!
7 June
Market Deeping Agricultural Show
Malibu [Fool Me] went to his first ever show. He was competing in the TARRA classes which are designed for the re-training of race horses.
This was his first outing since he had raced and we were keen to see how he would react. He was angelic and acted as if he had been
going to shows all his life. He was the only youngster and novice in the in-hand and ridden classes and just missed qualifying for Hickstead by
one place.
In the in-hand class he came 4th and Jo couldn't stop smiling much to the judges amusement and delight. In the ridden class he behaved
impeccably. He was calm and settled and did a very good gallop on. The judge initially pulled him in down the line but after riding him moved him up to 5th place.
The judge was highly complimentary about such a young horse and tipped him as a star of the future. Watch this space for more of Malibu's results
4 May
Leicester County Show
A mixed day for the ponies at Leicester County Show. Charlie [Blackwell Chalice] came 3rd in the in-hand 4 year old and over. He was on his toes
and made me keep awake for the whole class. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control we missed the youngstock class.
In the afternoon Charlie competed in the mixed large ridden Mountain and Moorland class. It was a very large class of 25 ponies and we had to wait until a larger ring
was made available to us. Charlie did very well coming 8th and gained the award for the highest placed New Forest. There were some extremely good ponies that
didn't make the front line of 14!
24 March
Showland Show
On a cold and bitter Easter Monday we took Blackwell Chalice, Welham Waterbaby and Gatebridge Ragtime to Brooksby College. It was the first
outing of the season and all three ponies were shown by the young adults. In the youngstock class Bobby [Gatebridge Ragtime] came 2nd and Willow [Welham Waterbaby] came 3rd.
In the 4 year old and over class Charlie [Blackwell Chalice came first]. All three ponies qualified for the autumn championships and the Royal and London Championships.
Charlie took part in his first ridden show classes. He competed in the ridden novice [4th] and the ridden open [4th] large breeds.

Stallion Licensing - New Forest
We traveled down to the New Forest with Bobby [Gatebridge Ragtime] the 2 year old colt by Manor Boy of Howen. The weekend had to be re-arranged
by the Society due to there being strangles in some parts of the forest. All the stud colts met at a venue separate from the forest run stallions who
were also having their inspection that day.
The standard is definitely getting higher and not all colts were passed for license, luckily Bobby was. His temperament is so like his Dad's. There were
colts jumping around all over the place and even the horses in the field beside us were misbehaving. Bobby came off the lorry after a long journey, stretched
his legs, looked around and started yawning.
This summer Bobby is covering a select few mares and will stand at public stud in 2009.
